NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.
-- A U.S. Air Force F-15D Eagle crashed on the Nevada Test and Training Range approximately 50 miles east of Goldfield, Nev., at approximately 11:30 a.m. today. The F-15D, assigned to the 65th Aggressor Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base was participating in a combat training mission as part of Exercise Red Flag 08-03. Two people were on board and their condition is unknown at this time. As soon as additional details become available, they will be provided. A board of officials is being convened to investigate.

Pilot dies in fighter jet crash
A pilot from Nellis Air Force Base died after an F-15D fighter jet with two pilots on board crashed at 11:40 a.m. today on Nellis Air Force Range, 50 miles east of Goldfield, a Nellis Air Force Base spokesman said. The jet, a two-seat version of the F-15 Eagle, was participating in a combat training mission as part of the ongoing, multi-national Red Flag exercise. Another pilot from the aircraft was transported to Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital at approximately 1:30 p.m. The second pilot is under observation and in stable condition.
