The new weather engine has the ability to do custom weather which would include hurricanes.
But you need to remember that FS9/FSX weather engine runs on a roughly 65 square mile radius from icao stations.
So even if you set them custom wise it is difficult to really simulate these kinds of conditions in their true form.
But we are working hard to come very close.
There was talk about virtual stations and possibly using this option, and that would be something would include at a later update to REX.

Then the REX Engine looks at the surrounding weather to create a meso and synoptic picture of the true weather environment. For example, it will look to see areas of low pressure and see what type of weather is situated and interpret what type of cloud structures, wind patterns aloft, precipitation patterns and visibility will be associated with that pattern.
So you see, the REX Weather Engine is not just another reproduction of what everyone else is doing, but truely been fine tuned to create a true to life experience.
This is where we believe it all starts!
This weather platform scientifically takes these world wide observations and then in milliseconds creates a mirco, meso, and synoptic environment.
But now for the first time we go beyond just downloading weather reports.
Taken what we have learned from previous experience, we will give the user the ability to create true to life "Weather Scenarios" that allow you to try your hand at flying through micro, meso, and synoptic weather situations YOU create!
You do not need to alter a metar report to make it work or have a degree in meteorology, but can simply drag and drop weather features on a map and there you go - worldwide weather that is true to life created by you.

We do not use the MS method of getting the data. We get our data directly from NOAA.
The real issue is not the source of the data, it is what you do with the data when you get it. That is where the real science is.
