Breakers of rules of flying over Russia named
[28 Mar 2007] /Lenta.ru/
British Airways, Germanwings, Iberia found themselves among 15 European air companies which have been accused by Russia's Federal Air Navigation Service of gross violation of flight rules, Vedomosti reported. And if they don't remedy the situation, the Russian service warns, the will not be allowed to perform flights in Russian air space.
This information came from chief of Russia's Federal Air Navigation Service Alexandr Nerad'ko in a letter forwarded by him on March 13 to President of European Civil Aviation Conference Michel Wachenheim. The information was published in the media on March16, with no names of the air companies given.
The Federal Air Navigation Service's press secretary Andrei Pryanishnikov said that the Russian side 'doesn't want to undermine their reputation' while the question on their status is under consideration.
In an article of March 26 Vedomosti named only 3 out of the 15 companies.
Nerad'ko's above-mentioned letter notes, in particular, that a British Airways liner ' when trying to bypass a thunder area entered a prohibited zone', while an Iberia airplane occupied by mistake a level of 2.700 m instead of 3.700 as specified by ATC, as a result of which there occurred a hazardous proximity with an oncoming Tu-154'.
In connction with the violations revealed the Russian Air Navigation Service demanded that the ECAC 'should take immediate measures'.
Let us remind that in mid- February the Russian Air Navigation Service, while responding to remarks made to Russian air carriers by European Commission, banned some 9 air companies, namely, Lukoil, Gazpromavia anf U'tair to perform charter and one-time flights to CIS countries.
Der letzte Absatz ist besonders interessant.
