This week we released a new update to DCS, version 1.2.4.12179.160. This added a number of changes and fixes that can be found here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...51&postcount=4
The team is already at work on a third and final update to version 1.2.4 that will address some additional pressing issues (increase stability, anti-radiation missile accuracy, A-10C RWR, and others) before moving on to version 1.2.5.
We are also working on improving mission and campaign selection screens within the GUI for single missions, training missions and campaigns. See attached.
On the new product front, a lot of effort is now being devoted to the advanced flight models for the F-15C and the Su-27. In parallel, BST is working to finalize the UH-1H and they are already working on their Mi-8.
As for our F/A-18C Hornet, the new external model can already be seen in DCS World and work on the cockpit has been ongoing for quite a awhile. Once the last of the FC3 avionics bugs have been squashed, much of our avionics programming staff will move on to the Hornet.

24 May 2013 Update
Earlier this week we released a further update to DCS version 1.2.4, that you can read about here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...26&postcount=6
Before moving on to DCS version 1.2.5, we plan on one more update to 1.2.4 with a focus on resolving bugs that are having the biggest impact on gameplay. Chizh and I (with tester input) have scoured the bugs and problems sub-forums and created a list of the most common complaints / bug reports. Our goal is to wrap up 1.2.4 in such a way that we have a very solid foundation for 1.2.5. Once I have a change log, I hope to post it prior to version release.
A few weeks ago I mentioned new information regarding the Nevada map and the development of EDGE technology. Fear not, I have not forgotten! Much of this work is being done in our Minsk office and I am waiting to receive images and information from them to use in my update. Unfortunately, I have not had access to new terrain builds in over a year (I have not been holding out on you all!).
An internal topic this week was how we can improve our communications via our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/eagle.dynamics We will now being doing much more regular posts, more images, weekly "best of" community screen shots, more general military aviation news, and break up the large update text blocks with smaller posts such that news is not missed of products releases and software updates. If you have other ideas on how you think we can improve our Facebook page, we would love to hear from you.
As many of you have learned, the next project from the very talented Belsimtek team (developers of DCS: UH-1H Huey) is the Mi-8MTV-2. The team is already making rapid progress and they gave me permission to provide a few new, work-in-progress images.

31 May 2013 - DCS News Update
This past week saw the release of yet another update to DCS version 1.2.4. The advent of the auto-updater has now allowed us to release much more frequent, smaller patches to main versions (i.e. 1.2.2... 1.2.3... 1.2.4). We hope that you appreciate this as much as we do and not have to wait long period between updates. You can read about the most recent DCS version 1.2.4 update here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...95&postcount=7
Over the past week, our team has primarily been focused on bug fixes with a focus on network play, artificial intelligence (AI), avionics, and air defense systems. Next week we will decide to push latest fixes to a new 1.2.4 update or wait for the move to 1.2.5.
In the meantime, our artist have been busy updating some of the outdated 3D models. For instance, I've attached images of the improved 3D models for several Russian-made air-to-air missiles that will be included with the DCS version 1.2.5 release.
Have a great weekend,
Matt

LotAtc 4 DCS release! (public beta)
Hi,
We are (very) pleased to announce the release of LotAtc 4 DCS as a public beta (version 0.8.0) !
LotAtc 4 DCS is a software that allows you to simulate the role of an air traffic controller (namely, first, an Air Defense controller). LotAtc shows the tactical situation (aircraft, SAMs, boats) on a "radar screen" with a map background. As a virtual controller, you will be able to guide human virtual pilots in DCS World multiplayer missions, by radioing them (through your regular voice software such as Teamspeak, Mumble ... etc), whether to make them find their way and/or their leader, set up to your fighters to intercept bandits, or press the muds to hide or take shelter given what happens in front of them.
An example of a (simple) tactical situation, as displayed into LotAtc 4 DCS:
An ennemy bogey (pictured in red) is bound towards Sochi AB from the west, flying at high altitude (10,600m).
Two MiG-29As acting as GAI (Ground Alert Intercept), callsigns Guardian 51 and Guardian 52, were just scrambled from runway 24 to intercept the boguey. As they are friendly aircraft, they appear in white. Let's help them to find it: the MiG is kind of shortsighted, isn't it?
The leader MiG is already established on an interception course on the controller order, and is climbing through 2,700m.
The wingman has just taken off and appears on the radar screen. The controller then draws a bearing/distance calculation line with his mouse (yellow line + legend) to communicate to the second pilot the necessary elements to reach its target: "Guardian 52, Bandit strength 1, BRAA 300° 60km, 10,000m, Hot."
LotAtc 4 DCS is a dual software, composed of:
- A server, which is a free module for DCS World (it works on DCS World 64-bit only, and is only available to the host of a multiplayer flight)
- A client, which is a paid standalone application (available in 32- and 64-bit versions; it does not require DCS World to be installed on the computer)
This first version "0.8.0" is a public beta:
- All features are not yet available. For the record, the roadmap of upcoming features is available on the LotAtc Features page of our official Wiki.
- You are also likely to encounter a larger population of bugs than is usual within 'final' softwares. Rest assured that our bugs are considerably nicer (and cuter) than those from other softwares (just kidding) (seriously: they may bite, too). Nevertheless we believe that LotAtc is now sufficiently complete to enable an actual - and fun - use!
Since this is a beta, do not hesitate (really!) to challenge the developer with your questions, comments, desires or potential problems ... To do this, the Forums are available. You may write in English or in French, there. Do not forget to check out the Documentation of the software, available online as a Wiki (in English only for now).
Links:
- Download page for the server and the client.
- Purchase page (for the client). The price of the licence is 20€ (if you're an individual or a non-profit organization); the licence is valid for one computer.
Last but not least: We are pleased to confirm that a 'demo' version of the client software will be released soon to allow you to discover LotAtc 4 DCS. This - free - demo version is likely to contain limited features and/or a restricted play time; it's aimed to allow you to make your own idea about LotAtc before deciding (or not) to make a purchase.
Until today, the team has focused on the present release of the first beta "0.8.0". Thus, the demo will be available at a later date, probably around the time when the second beta "0.9.0" will be ready. If you want to try LotAtc 4 DCS before buying it, stay tuned we'll tell you more about the 'demo' soon ...
Thanks to all the members of the community who show support to the project. We hope (and sincerely believe) that you'll enjoy LotAtc 4 DCS for long hours of quality time with fellow simulation enthusiasts. Enjoy!

DCS: Hawk Update Video
The VEAO partner team has released a new video showcasing the latest Alpha build of their DCS: Hawk module. This video features the internal canopy opening mechanism, engine start-up sequence day and night and night lighting tied into electrical systems.
ATC Improvements
We acknowledge that the air traffic control environment needs improvement. One near-term effort to address this is a number of improvements to the ATC and takeoff and landing procedures. We plan to release these in DCS version 1.2.5.
- Establish orbit zones with fixed positions several km from the end of the runway.
- We have increased the landing rates.
- Aircraft taking off will now have a higher priority than landing aircraft.
- Out of fuel and damaged landing aircraft will have the highest priority.
Further ATC improvements will continue.
Work On New Rendering Technology Continues
The new Image Generator (IG) technology is currently in development and will be introduced to DCS World when it is ready. Elements of the new IG include:
- More detailed terrain.
- Better graphical effects
- Dedicated server
- DirectX 11 support
- Skeleton animation for infantry

Next Stop... DCS Version 1.2.5
After the release of DCS version 1.2.4, we released multiple updates using our automatic updater. We are now moving towards the next major update, version 1.2.5. Our primary focus will be on improving game performance, addressing game play issues, and setting the stage for further modules.
Key features planned for version 1.2.5 include:
DCS World
Improvements to the ATC system.
New Tu-22M3 model. Images attached.
Further improvements to game stability.
Correcting module installation issues.
Resource manager: Corrected logistic links.
Resource manager: The value, speed and periodicity have been adjusted. Default supply speed is now 60 km/h.
Anti-radiation missiles: Added proximity fuses and adjusted accuracy.
Visual detection of a target for AI units will now also be a function of time. The time of detection depends on target distance, aspect angle, and the presence of already detected targets nearby.
When a target is no longer visible, the AI aircraft will use the target’s last known position and velocity to search for it.
Added "STOP TRANSMISSION" trigger action.
AI behavior option "DISPERCE UNDER FIRE" now has new parameter - dispersion delay.
Added new AI behavior option - "RTB ON OUT OF AMMO".
Added more tooltips to the Mission Editor.
Message filter for Lock On aircraft: RShift+\.
Added several new constants (AI) and functions (trigger, Controller) in the Simulator Scripting Engine (SSE).
Detection of radars by RWR has been reworked to make player and AI systems equal.
The parking spaces for Anapa and Krymsk airbases have been corrected.
Su-25T: The gun funnel has been adjusted.
Added new Su-27 skins.
Several factors governing air to air missiles have been adjusted.
Updated airbase charts from www.10thGunfighters.de and www.ariescon.com
Fixed input deadlock.
M256 HEAT ballistics corrected.
Improved fire and smoke of aircraft fragments.
Improved material of flares.
Adjusted logbook data accounting. Especially in complex cases with multiple changes of aircrafts in one sortie.
Mission Editor: Added briefing picture dialog. If file contain inappropriate symbols in the name, GUI Error appears.
The broken input after exporting to HTML is fixed.
DCS: UH-1H Huey
Tuned the "mast bumping" effect. The rotor is now very hard to break off while on the ground.
The UH-1H manuals and readme have been updated.
Fixed UH-1H training files.
Sound samples path has been updated.
Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 3
Added advanced Flight Model (AFM) for the A-10A.
Su-25: Bombs falling short when using CCRP has been fixed.
Su-25: Turning ON the laser rangefinder no longer causes the targeting cross to jump outside the gunsight.
F-15: Crash or freeze in the F-15C when on the ramp when changing HUD Modes are fixed.
F-15: Negative airspeed values should now correctly display on the HUD airspeed tape.
The FC3 installation check has been fixed.
“Betty” voice warnings now use native language.
The cockpit view system has been adjusted. Looking behind the aircraft will no longer give an impossible view angle.
Remaining issues for some FC3 aircraft like CCRP, EOS, and F-15C landing issue will be addressed. Right now our staff is quite overloaded with other, higher priority items.
Performance of air-to-air missiles continues to be adjusted. The primary area we will now be tuning is the counter measure performance against air to air missiles.
DCS: Black Shark 2
Ka-50 EKRAN refactoring.
DCS: Combined Arms
Adjusted the machine gun sights for several vehicles.
Updated and New Units
The Next Eagle Dynamics DCS Modules
Later this year, we will offer:
A-10A: DCS Flaming Cliffs
Su-25: DCS Flaming Cliffs
F-15C: DCS Flaming Cliffs
Su-27: DCS Flaming Cliffs
These modules will feature:
1- Detailed 3D model (high polygon / high res textures)
2- 6 DOF cockpit
3- Advanced Flight Model (AFM)
4- Same level of cockpit system detail as the Lock On: Flaming Cliffs aircraft
We plan to release each at $19.99 USD.
We are releasing these modules for the following reasons:
1- It allows users access to these aircraft that do not own, or want to own, Lock On.
2- It allows users to buy just the aircraft they are interested in, without having to purchase the full Flaming Cliffs product.
3- It allows us to make these aircraft available to a much larger audience on Steam, Origin, GameFly and other digital retailers.
These updated FC3 aircraft will be made available for FREE to Flaming Cliffs 3 customers.
Other FC3 aircraft will be improved as well (like the Su-27, Su-25, F-15C and A-10A). When they are further along, we will discuss them.
We will develop a balance of lighter "DCS Flaming Cliffs" modules with more detailed/realistic "DCS" modules. The "DCS Flaming Cliffs" modules allow us to develop the more detailed "DCS" titles in a more iterative way. As such, we will continue to develop detailed simulation like A-10C. The next such "DCS" title will be F/A-18C.
Improved Visual Effects
We understand that some of the visual effects (particularly for weapons like cluster bombs) are causing a significant performance reduction for some. We are now in the process of adjusting the effects to work in the new Image Generator (IG) that we believe will alleviate this issue.

Update - 22 June 2013
We have completed our internal discussion of the availability of the "upgraded" Flaming Cliffs aircraft and we have decided to make them available for free to Flaming Cliffs 3 customers. We believe that this will add a very high level of new content to the FC3, it will avoid duplicate aircraft types, and we hope it will broaden the appeal of FC3 to an even larger audience.
Did I mention that FC3 is currently on sale?
